Shibori is the Japanese word for a variety of ways of designing patterns in fabric by shaping and tying the cloth before dyeing. Using the resist-dye technique, the resulting patterns are similar to tie-dying, although often much more intricate in design. Shibori fabrics are used in many garments and decorative items across Japan.
