Japanese sewing boxes, called hari-bako (needle boxes) feature an array of small wooden drawers, and often a hinged lid for larger storage. These boxes work excellently in a modern context as desktop boxes for jewellery, or other small treasures. Letter and document boxes were traditionally designed for holding loose paper and pieces of writing, which makes them perfect for desktop storage in a contemporary workspace.
